The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been solving the technical challenges faced by the military, science community, and industry since 1959. SDL is a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) and provides space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data assurance, and ground stations.


We are seeking applicants for a mid-level Human Resource Manager who will initially focus on the key areas of benefits, training and development, and employee relations.


Key Responsibilities:

·    Provide recommendations and implement solutions to engage, develop, and retain employees

·    Manage and coordinate training and organizational development programs that address the personal, professional, and organizational needs of SDL employees and programs

·    Manage the administration of insurance, retirement, and other benefit programs; evaluate and develop recommendations for improvements to employer-sponsored benefit programs

·    Work with leaders to identify strategies to address skills gaps and/or future necessary skills

·    Develop and coordinate processes designed to foster a positive and productive work environment including performance management programs

·    Offer innovative ideas and suggestions for streamlining and enhancing HR functions

·    Supervise assigned employees including selection, mentoring, training, evaluating, rewarding, balancing workload, team building, and other leadership functions

·    Lead and/or participate in projects (i.e., refresh of performance management system)


Required Qualifications:

·    BS in Human Resources or related field

·    At least 10 years of progressive HR generalist experience

·    Strong employee relations experience and knowledge of employment laws

·    Proven track record of ability to relate effectively with employees at all levels

·    Ability to exercise judgement within broadly defined policies and practices

·    Experience with performance management, employee development, and organizational design theory and practices

·    Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity

·    Demonstrated ability to use data to make decisions and support actions

·    Ability to develop effective presentations and present clearly and confidently


Preferred Qualifications:

·    Master’s degree in Human Resources

·    Professional Human Resources or higher certification

·    Previous experience utilizing change management principles to support organizational growth

·    Proven success in deploying and leveraging programs to support employee growth and site succession planning
