Engineer - Small Satellite Systems - Job ID 9972

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a mid-level small satellite systems engineer for satellite development programs located at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  This work supports the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate and focuses on research, development, integration, test, and operation of small satellites and CubeSats, such as mini-satellites, microsatellites, and nanosatellites.  Systems engineering duties include methodical disciplined approach to the design, development, realization, technical management, operations and disposal of systems.

Responsibilities Include:

·     System architecture design, development, and assessment

·     Systems engineering planning

·     Technical data management and document preparation

·     Coordination of efforts among mission partners

·     Decision analysis and support

·     Technical assessments and system evaluation

·     Requirements management, definition, and analysis

·     Test planning

·     Risk management

·     Configuration management

·     Systems interface management

Required Qualifications:

·     Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics)

·     Five or more years' experience as a systems engineer in space industry programs

·     Understanding of satellites, space sensors, and ground systems used for space assets

·     Ability to communicate well across organizational boundaries

·     Experience with Air Force programs

·     Experience with DoD procurement and acquisition processes

·     Current active DoD top secret security clearance (SSBI/SCI)

·     Ability to travel occasionally
